Taco Bell Vegan Options

Taco Bell is a famous American-based fast food restaurant in California. They are known for their delicious Mexican-inspired food items such as burritos, tacos, nachos, and quesadillas. The company also offers a wide variety of Taco Bell vegan options. The company was founded in 1948 in San Bernardino, California by Glen Bell a young entrepreneur who first owned a hotdog stand. Taco Bell caters to a lot of different customer needs. It’s fast, the menu is consistent and in recent years, there are over 7,654 restaurants in the United States.

In 2020, Taco Bell changed its business practices when it removed its potatoes from the menu. But introduced new plant based foods and have been slowly rolling this out to their restaurants regionally. The company had been without the product for more than six months, but now they’ve brought it back. It won’t just be the vegan menu that needs it. Taco Bell is on the top of the list of vegan friendly fast food, even before they tried out some plant based options. Vegans were able to enjoy Taco Bell vegan options even before they had meatless meat tacos.

Will Taco Bell Offer Vegan Meat?

Beans are now the only plant based protein available at Taco Bell. But the Texan-Mexican inspired chain may soon be getting something meatier. In 2021, Taco Bell disclosed that they are collaborating with the company Beyond Meat which helps develop a plant based and vegan friendly protein for its customers.

The only vegan meat currently being produced as of yet is the Carne Asada, unfortunately, it was delisted before it had even gotten to the trial stage. But don’t worry; a spokesman reassured us that testing several versions of the product before releasing it on the market which is part of a typical practice. They said they are “extremely thrilled about what the two companies have planned,” but they were unable to give any other information on what would happen next.

Taco Bell has experimented with other vegan meats in addition to plant based beef. An establishment in California tested the best-selling Chalupa that comes with Crunchy Plant-Based Shell back in June 2021. The test food was created as a vegetarian alternative to the Naked Chicken Chalupa and comes with a pea protein-based shell.

How to Make a Vegan Taco Bell Order

Getting Taco Bell vegan options is made considerably simpler by ordering “fresco-style,” first and foremost. Almost any item can be ordered in a fresco style. The staff is aware to swap out or omit any dairy based items and sauces with fresh tomatoes. At Taco Bell, this is practically code for “make it vegan.” You must indicate that you don’t want beef if you’re ordering an item that usually contains beef by default.

You may simply use your words to place orders at the drive thru if you’re ordering vegan at Taco Bell. However, ordering through the website or their app is much easier to customize your food—which is necessary frequently when buying vegan food—as simple as pressing a button. Any ingredient can be omitted or added to any menu item. It’s more easier if you order vegan food at Taco Bell like a Taco Supreme with beans in place of the beef, any desired add-ons any modifications you want.

Here is a list of Taco Bell vegan alternatives:

Black Bean Chalupa

In this Black Bean Chalupa, you will receive a crunchy chalupa loaded with tomatoes, black beans, and lettuce if you ask for it fresco-style. With jalapenos for an extra kick, it tastes fantastic.

Black Bean Crunchwrap

Black Bean Crunchwrap

The Crunchwrap Supreme, a cuisine item developed by Taco Bell, is even more transportable than a burrito. As a Taco Bell vegan menu item, you’re left with a freshly pressed soft tortilla filled with black beans, tomato, salsa, fresh cilantro, crispy lettuce, and tortilla if you order this without the sour cream and nacho cheese sauce. For dipping, request a side of their tasty guacamole.

Bean Burrito

The bean burrito is not vegan by default, however, it may be turned vegan by ordering the burrito in the “fresco” style, in which case the cheese will be removed. Refried beans, chopped tomatoes, red sauce, and diced onions, are all considered vegan and they have wrapped in a tortilla.

Fiesta Veggie (Burrito)

Fiesta Veggie Burrito

If you order this treasure from their menu “Cravings Value” without chipotle sauce and fresco-style, it is now considered vegan. Seasoned rice, black beans, tomatoes, guacamole, and red tortilla chips are all combined into one delectable dish.

Spicy Potato Soft Taco

When you order this one dollar delight without the cheese and chipotle sauce, it turns vegan. Jalapeno peppers and onions should be included to enhance their taste.

Soft & Crunchy Tacos

Like the spicy hot potato soft taco, any taco, soft or crunchy, may be turned vegan by omitting the cheese, chipotle sauce, and sour cream, and choosing refried beans over the meat. Another option you can try is the Taco Supreme with beans in place of the meat and lots of frills. However, you should stay away from Doritos Locos tacos which are not vegan.

Black Beans & Rice

Black Beans and rice

Cheers! The black beans & rice are vegan, and they taste even better when you pile on the toppings. However, if a vegetable bowl is what you’re after, scroll on to the next selection.

Power Menu Veggie Bowl

Ordering this rice bowl al fresco is all that is required to make it vegan. If you do that, you’ll have a delicious lunch of black beans, seasoned rice, tomatoes, lettuce, and guacamole. Add as many vegetable toppings as you can if you want to go the extra mile.

Nacho Fries

Nacho-Fries

Although the classic crispy fried potatoes are a fantastic way to liven up any dish on the menu, Nacho Fries are another alternative. These Mexican spiced Nacho fries are vegan friendly if requested without the cheese sauce. You may add extra ingredients to your Nacho Fries such as Pico De Gallo, guacamole, or your preferred Taco Bell spicy sauce,

Nachos Belle Grande

These salty, crispy chips are vegan-friendly if you order them with guacamole and tomatoes, but the nachos come with cheese by default. By omitting the sour cream and cheese and replacing the beef in the Nachos Belle Grande with more black beans, you can easily make it vegan.

Hash Browns

Hash browns

Having Taco Bell vegan breakfast? Taco Bell doesn’t have much, but it does have hash browns and a cup of coffee. Even if they are simple, potatoes and coffee will work when you are in a bind and have no other alternatives nearby.

Cinnamon Twists

These airy, crunchy nibbles are a cross between crunch cereal and churros. This item is incredibly delish, there’s no harm in ordering more than one bag.

Mountain Dew – Baja Blast Freeze

This famous Baja Blast is now available as a slushie at Taco Bell. This pale blue frozen delight will keep you cool on a hot day, while the other Freezes are created with confectioner’s sugar which is not vegan-friendly.

In addition to everything else we’ve already mentioned, all of the hot sauces, from Mild to Diablo, are vegan, so use them on anything.  Keep some aside for your homemade dishes as well.

Final Thoughts

Taco Bell’s decision to include more vegan options on its menu will help them appeal to a wider audience and increase profits. They are not only providing Taco Bell vegan options, but they are also providing options for lactose intolerant and gluten-free. Taco Bell is one option if you want to dine out but are following a vegan diet. You will undoubtedly adore the fresh and delectable vegan foods they serve.
